Academics and Journalist in Gaza call for boycotting the BBC

Palestinian academics and journalist in the Gaza Strip called for a boycott of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for its biased coverage of the Israeli occupation war on Gaza.

The academics and journalists held a picket on Thursday afternoon outside the Shawwa Husary Towers in Gaza City, where the BBC has an office and called for a complete boycott of the BBC, not only for its biased coverage of the war on Gaza but also for its refusal to broadcast a humanitarian appeal for the victims of Gaza.

The angry protesters called on the three BBC journalists in Gaza to leave, before they get chased with the shoes of the victims of the Israeli occupation war on Gaza.

Dr. Jamal Abu Nada, chairman of the Academics and Lecturers Society, talked about the BBC"s reporting of war on Gaza and how its "reporters prepared their reporters on the backs of Zionist tanks with the Ja"vati units and adopted the Zionist false narrative to justify the war crimes against Palestinian women and children."

The French Government And Inhumane Intervention

The arrival of the French President Sarkozy (the only one with the extremist Jane Mary Lobin who refused to respond to the application of the French Association for Human Rights" presented to all presidential candidates) and his appointment of Bernard Kouchner, an unconditional advocate of the Hebrew State, was a disastrous indicator of France"s reputation and status in the syndicates, popular organizations, Arab civil society, and human rights organizations (those which are credible, i.e. do not yield to the conditions of financial aid) as was the situation within human rights circles and those of humanitarian work in France itself.

Being among the trusted friends, the Sarkozy-Kouchner duet had known about the Gaza offensive project as more than one Israeli official confirmed. In fact, the Israeli government had called on them to side with the agreement on enhancing their relations with the EU not before the end date of the French presidential term (i.e. during the holiday season which is tactically the most suitable time for passing such a conspiracy behind the European parliament"s back), but on December 8, 2008, so that it would be Israeli army"s gift to the world which Nobel "death" prize winner Shimon Perez described as "an achievement within sixteen days which humanity couldn"t do in its sixteen years of war on terrorism."

Livni- who had lived in Paris from 1980-1984 with a fictitious name and worked as a servant for an Iraqi nuclear scientist whom she assassinated with poison and whom a memo had been issued in her fictitious name, and later in her real name, ordering the halt of a judicial case against her before the Zionist lobby in France succeeded in ending it- was exchanging kisses with Kouchner in front of the Elise gate while the children of Gaza were dying and lying under the rubbles caused by the blind shelling of legal and illegal weapons. In a TV program on the French Channel 2, the Hebrew State"s ambassador to France had said, "When Dr. Kouchner talks with Hamas, we will immediately start talking with them!" And while human rights advocates were yelling, "stop offering Gaza as a martyr," the French police were destroying a solidarity tent that had been erected in Stalingrad, Paris, in a clear provocation to the democrats, human rights defenders, and Arab-Islamic community. Then Kouchner and Sarkozy go out, following a mass solidarity demonstration that filled the French capitals, saying, "We condemn the importation of the Middle East crisis to French lands."

A number of writers, artists, and French resistance figures, primarily Raymond Aubrac (one of the first who joined the French resistance), General De Gaulle, Carole Bouquet (actor and human rights supporter), Rony Braumann (Former President of Without Limits correspondents organization), Monique Chemillier-Gendreaux (the thinker and struggler for an alternative UN), Regis Debray (Progressive thinker and Former consultant of Francois Mitterrand), Stephane Hessel (Human Rights Ambassador), Mireille Mendes-France (daughter of the struggler France Fanon) and Gilles Perrault (renowned leftist writer) requested Sarkozy to send a hospital ship to the shores of Gaza for the treatment of the Palestinian war-wounded, especially since the French Republic was behind more than one UN decision ordering the opening of humanitarian passages (or corridors). But the President instead decided to send a team to the shores of Gaza to prevent the smuggling of weapons to Palestinian resistance, while sending French weapons to the Israeli ports as the human rights republic has become the primary European source of weapons to Israel!!

In a day when tens of humanitarian and Islamic charity organizations had turned into terrorist organizations, Minister of Interior Sarkozy was the first European official to deal with the American blacklists. He had prevented 13 academians and employees in the humanitarian field from Saudi Arabia to attend the Paris Conference for Humanitarian NGOs that had been given the first world confederacy for humanitarian work (International Office for Humanitarian and Charity societies). Then he came out with an authoritative edict calling on judges to avoid lenience with any French Muslim who travels to the regions of conflict, referring to Afghanistan and Iraq only. As a result, sentences were issued against French citizens by political intervention ordering their imprisonment for seven years if they"ve traveled to Iraq and a lesser term if there was an intention of going there. The French government didn"t intervene to release any French prisoner in the American prisons in Iraq; it even sent public investigations and foreign affairs representatives to Guantanamo to coordinate with its administration the situation of French detainees. We don"t find these procedures with French Muslim citizens when the matter is concerned with the fraud Arch Du Zuway or French Jew volunteers in the Israeli army. In fact, there is a website titled "Civil Volunteering In Israel" with the phone and fax numbers, and travel visas coverage for volunteering to serve in the Israeli army. The site doesn"t fear posting the pictures of volunteers during their training with weapons, and was proud with their stance during the offensive in Lebanon when they had been in the northern front. Mr. Sarkozy doesn"t have the courage to detain one of these volunteers despite the evidence from statements issued by them confirming their participation in military activities.

So who is the one actually bringing the conflict to France? Those defending the victims or those joining the army of the offensive?

Who is the one creating the separation between Arabs and French Muslims on the one hand, and the ruling political classes which lack the wisdom and balance in their stance towards the offensive in Gaza on the other hand? In fact, who is responsible for the resignation of all the Muslim members in the Jewish-Muslim Friendship Society for the absence of a minimum level of solidarity with the Gaza victims?

The destructive Kouchner-Sarkozy policies not only destroy what the French diplomacy had built since General De Gaulle"s cry in 1967 against the colonialist style of Israel and his attempt to prevent the French Republic"s bias to the aggressor but are also the primary factors leading to the formation of a large front in France comprising the different progressive, democratic, and human rights forces to confront those whose interests are subject to the multinational corporations and pro-Israel lobby and all those stigmatized in the political system, the immigrant society (who are no different from Sarkozy, an immigrant"s son, except in color and religion). This front loudly says that the French government has started to form a line behind the Israeli war criminals and doesn"t represent the French society. Therefore, peaceful civil resistance derives its legitimacy from the declaration of human rights, citizen, and French constitution as well as France"s international commitment to human rights and international humanitarian law. of a government that plays with the vital French interests in both the Arab and Islamic worlds and the proximity between the Arab and French people and the dialogue of civilization and people, this civil resistance is

A number of Arab and African states, members of the International Human Rights Council, in its last meeting in New York, made a recommendation to the UN Economic and Social Council to withdraw the consultative status of AOHR for one year.

This recommendation was presented by the representative of the State of Algeria, claiming that the committee’s representative in Geneva “Rasid Mossali” is listed in the terrorists list in Algeria. Representatives of Egypt, Sudan, Qatar and Israel shared in this recommendation.

While the US and some European countries refused to vote on the recommendation before wide investigations being carried out.

Violette Dagher, head of AOHR in Paris, stated in a press releace to “Aldostor” that these states made its request at a time where our organization is trying to transfere Israel to the International Criminal Court for the crimes it committed against Palestinians in Gaza, after we met with the prosecuter of the ICC and asked him to move an urgent trial against Israel . States recommendation to withdraw the UN’s consultative status is an attempt to prevent our legal actions against Israel”.

Dagher asked: “ Didn’t the state of Algeria know this person represents us until this time!”. She affirmed that “Mossali” does not represent the organization and said that he is a lawyer who defends human dignity and has a political asylum in Switzerland, a country which does not agree on giving asylum before carrying out serious investigations about the applicant.

Dagher attributed Egypt’s position to this recommendation to the organization’s adoption of a legal position rejecting Military and exceptional trials for civilians in addition to its position in solidarity with journalists who were sentenced to detention by the Egyptian courts.

Dagher stressed that they will submit an explanatory statement to the Economic and Social Council and Human Rights Council to defend the organization and to abolish these recommendations made by these states.

Mrs. Dagher added that the position of those states would not stop them from following Israel and taking it to court. She spoke about a meeting held by the the Arab Committee yesterday with the presence of the Palestinian Minister of Justice and a number of European officials and human rights activists to document the Israeli crimes and search for legal alternatives to start a trial.

Meanwhile, Mr. Monsef Almarzouqi, former president of the committee stated that such a step is one of the struggles faced by the committee since its establishment on 1998, adding that the Committee now is the spearhead in the prosecution of Israeli war criminals and he wondered how could the Committee not be an enemy to the corrupt Arab political system and the corrupt cultural system and not be targeted by this and that.

Mr. Almarzouqi said that such a step is contrary to the reality since the intervention of the Committee in the work of the Higher Commissioner for Human Rights and the Economic and Social Council is at the top of the activities of NGOs.

Its worth noting that the Economic and Social Council is one of UN bodies, composed of 54 member states elected by the General Assembly for three years and working on increasing respect and the protection for human rights and fundamental freedoms in consultaion with NGOs which cares about matters of concern to the Council.

Sourani: 86 Israeli war criminals are now wanted by international courts

Palestinian human rights activist Raji Al-Sourani has disclosed Wednesday that at least 86 Israeli military officers were now wanted by a number western courts for their role in the holocaust in the Gaza Strip.

In a forum held in this regard in the Egyptian capital Cairo, Sourani accused the European governments of adopting unfair stand over the Israeli massacres in Gaza Strip, opining that such behavior would bring the world back to the " law of the jungle."

He said that a number of lawsuits were filed by international human rights organizations against Israeli military officers before courts in Britain, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Spain over their role in the brutal war on Gaza, underlining that 86 of those officers were now wanted by those courts.

"The Palestinian human rights organizations will keep on chasing those Israeli war criminals, and they won"t forgive or forget what the Israeli occupation army had done in Gaza", Sourani stressed.

According to Sourani, the Israeli holocaust in Gaza was the bloodiest and most brutal holocaust in the Israeli occupation history in Palestine, adding that the Palestinian legal groups were relentlessly documenting those crimes to use them against the Israeli officials.

Moreover, Sourani deprecated Europe for not doing anything to bridle the Israeli criminal activities against the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, stressing, "We aren’t relying too much on the American stand because we know it is biased for Israel, but we blame Europe that claims to advocate democracy and human rights, but when it comes to condemning Israeli war crimes in Gaza, European governments refuse to vote for a resolution by the UNHRC.

He also pointed out that the Israeli crimes weren’t limited to the Gaza Strip, adding that the Israeli occupation government was and still practicing ethnic cleansing in the occupied city of Jerusalem against Palestinians, and expanding the Israeli settlements there at the expense of the Palestinian lands.

The Spanish government has decided to amend the country"s law dealing with prosecuting military commanders involved in war crimes.

Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni announced the news following a meeting with her Spanish counterpart Miguel Moratinos after a Spanish court accepted a lawsuit against former Israeli war ministry Benjamin Ben Eliezer and the then head of the air force Dan Halutz on charges against humanity.

The Israeli 2nd TV channel quoted Livni as expressing satisfaction over Moratinos"s decision and informed both Israeli premier Ehud Olmert and justice minister Daniel Friedman on the latest developments in this regard.

She stressed that Israel would continue in its efforts to settle such cases not only in Spain but in the whole world, the TV report said.

Spanish judge Fernando Andreu agreed to look into the case against Ben Eliezer and Halutz along with five other former Israeli officials for ordering the assassination of Hamas commander Salah Shehade that also led to the killing of 14 innocent civilians mostly women and children.

The judge said that the assault on the densely populated Gaza Strip was a "crime against humanity" and the lawsuit was in conformity with the international law that incriminates mass murder in any country.

Shehade was killed in July 2002 in the Israeli air raid that bombed his home using a one ton bomb.
